Here are what I consider to be among the best sources of Biblically-based wisdom available on the Internet.

Sound: Trumpet

Scripture “Make me know Thy ways, O LORD; teach me Thy paths” —Psalm 25:4 (RSV)

“Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all” —Douglas Adams

The word pastor is Latin for “shepherd”. So the word pastoral means “relating to a church minister”. Scripture “I am the good shepherd.” —John 10:11 (RSV)

Christ hides our unrighteousness with his righteousness, he covers our disobedience with his obedience, he shadows our death with his death, so that the wrath of God cannot find us.

Set this at top of page A Christmas Story

      Forwarded by LAmund1853@aol.com:

Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house Not a creature was praying, not one in the house. Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care In hopes that Jesus would not come there.

The children were dressing to crawl into bed, Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head. And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.

When out of the East there arose such a clatter, I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

When what to my wondering eyes should appear But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here. With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray I knew in a moment this must be The Day!

The light of His face made me cover my head It was Jesus! returning just like He had said. And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life which He held in His hand Was written the name of every saved man. He spoke not a word as He searched for my name; When He said "It's not here" my head hung in shame.

The people whose names had been written with love He gathered to take to His Father above. With those who were ready He rose without a sound While all the rest were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late; I had waited too long and this sealed my fate. I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight; Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear; The coming of Jesus is drawing near. There's only one life and when comes the last call We'll find that the Bible was true after all!

      Acts 2:38
A very devout christian woman was walking home after dark one night when out of nowhere came 2 guys wanting her money.

She started screaming and yelling "acts 2:38,acts 2:38."

One of them got scared and ran away, but the second one stayed to get the purse. But she kept yelling "acts 2:38, acts 2:38."

He gave up and ran to catch up with the first guy, which asked him if he got the purse. He said "no, man, she had an axe & 2 38's!"

      Tests for Getting Into Heaven
A Rabbi, a Roman Catholic priest and an Episcopal priest were having dinner one night. Suddenly the restaurant caught on fire and they were all killed. When they got to the gates of heaven St. Peter asked the rabbi to step forward.

The Rabbi said, "St. Peter, I've always been a good Rabbi and tried to follow the law to the day I died. St. Peter said, "I know, but you shouldn't have been eating pork," and dropped him into the fires of hell.

Next, the Roman Catholic priest stepped forward. "I've always been the best priest I could be, St. Peter, and you know we Catholics don't have any prohibition against pork." St. Peter said, "I know, but you shouldn't have been eating meat on a Friday," and dropped him into the fires of hell.

Finally, the Episcopal priest stepped forward and said, "St. Peter, you know we Episcopalians don't do that papist stuff about not eating meat on Friday. St. Peter said, "Yes, I know, but you should have at least known not to use your salad fork"! and dropped him into the fires of hell.

      Cristo by Joaquín Moragues

No sinner will ever come to Christ apart from the quickening, enlightening, drawing, converting power of the Holy Spirit, supernaturally exercised upon the conscience and heart.

Until grace comes into our souls we have no heart for the things of God. We may be fussily religious so far as to be attentive to every 'outward form of worship'; but there is no heart-work, no light of truth in all our devotion. But when once the divine light comes in, then we become intensely real in our dealings with God.

When the grace of God comes, the Holy Spirit brings us out from under the dominion of the old nature by creating within us a new life, and he brings us out from under the tyranny of the Prince of Darkness by opening our eyes to see, and our minds to understand celestial truth. The opening of our blind eyes and the pouring in of the light of truth are from the Lord.

The entrance of Gods word into the mind by the power of the Holy Spirit gives us light as to-- ourselves, our sin, and our danger. With this comes light as to the way of salvation through Jesus Christ, and light as to the mind of God concerning our sanctification. True knowledge takes the place of ignorance, and a desire for purity becomes supreme over the love of sin.

Not all the temptations of life, nor all the terrors of death, nor all the furies of hell, shall prevent any soul upon whom God has begun his work of grace from reaching eternal salvation. What a blessing is this, and what a comfort it is!

"The salvation of the righteous is of the Lord."

"And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations..." Matthew 24:14.

“The greatest lesson in life to to know that even fools are right sometimes.” —Winston Churchill

TV documentaries give platform to heretical "scholars" who make up new interpretations for events in the bible and call them "secrets". The commentary states that New Testament "were not historical accounts but shared memories shaped by a common past."

      • Berit Kjos observes that in a recent episode, the hit TV program "Touched by an Angel" explored the impact of AIDS on a young man's life. Trouble is, as the young man was dying, he came close to confessing sin--but the angel Tess stopped him short with a seductive mix of truth and New Age sentiment.

“I am one with God, I am one with all men, I am one with life.”

Her gospel denies our need for Christ on the cross —the only way to lasting peace.

        Joke

A church made up a list of all their parishioners who died during service in any war.

They put this list on the wall for everyone to see.

A 4-year-old boy was standing and looking at the list when the minister came by.

The boy asked the minister, "What is this list for?"

The minister replied, "That is all our parishioners who died in the service."

The boy asked the minister, "Was it during the 9 o'clock or 10:30 service?"

Billy Graham is among the most well known and respected men in the world. He has preached to more people in more countries than anyone on earth.

    Listen to him here.

He's great even though his organization is claimed to have an embarassingly large reserve of donated money ("in reserve for what?").

      From Joker.org
The Rev. Billy Graham tells of a time early in his career when he arrived in a small town to preach a sermon. Wanting to mail a letter, he asked a young boy directions to the post office.

After being told the way by the lad, the Rev. Graham thanked him, adding: “If you'll come to the Baptist church this evening, you can hear me telling everyone how to get to Heaven.”

“I don't think I'll be there,” the boy said. “You don't even know your way to the post office.”

    Taxi Driver Heaven

A minister dies and is waiting at the Pearly Gates. Ahead of him is a guy who's dressed in sunglasses, a loud shirt, a leather jacket, and jeans. Saint Peter addresses this guy, "Who are you, so that I may know whether or not to admit you to the Kingdom of Heaven?"

The guy replies, "I'm Joe Cohen, taxi driver, of Noo Yawk City."

Saint Peter consults his list. He smiles and says to the taxi driver, "Take this silken robe and golden staff and enter the Kingdom of Heaven." The taxi driver goes into Heaven with his robe and staff, and it's the minister's turn.

He stands erect and booms out, "I am Joseph Snow, pastor of Saint Mary's for the last 43 years."

Saint Peter consults his list. He says to the minister, "Take this cotton robe and wooden staff and enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

"Just a minute," says the minister. "That man was a taxi driver and he gets a silken robe and golden staff. How can this be?"

"Up here, we work by results," says Saint Peter. "While you preached, people slept; while he drove, people prayed."
